Item Connecting and Empowering Library Publishers: An International Knowledge Exchange(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2020-03) Buggle, Jane; O'Neill, Marie; IFLA Library Publishing Special Interest GroupThe 2020 mid-term meeting was held at Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway in March 2020, chaired by Lars Egeland. This event explored in greater depth themes discussed in Dublin whilst also introducing newer topics. Library publishing (including new-model university presses housed in libraries) is a growing activity in many countries around the world. The IFLA SIG aims to bring together experienced practitioners and would-be publishers to build communities of practice, to share information, and advance this exciting field of endeavor. New and emerging library publishers will gain insight into the experiences and practices of established presses, and all attendees will learn from new and innovative approaches. All the presentations and the ensuing discussions will advance the excellence and sustainability of library publishing ventures. The aim of the event was to bring together a broad spectrum of publishing programs, to exchange knowledge, present good practice, and to foster networks and mentoring relationships among library publishers at all stages, also highlighting the important role that the Library Publishing Coalition and the IFLA SIG play in this regard. The SIG meeting also invited participation by library schools and others engaged in efforts to educate the next generation of library publishers.Item Digital Access to LRC services and resources during COVID-19 Pandemic - Prince Mohammad Bin Fahd University LRC Experience(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-09-20) Abdulla, Mohamed A.; Zingapan, Elvira A.This study aims to discuss digital access to the Learning Resources Center services and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic. The PMU LRC’s response on the pandemic situation during the periods of closure concerning resources and services is discussed and analyzed. The LRC implements new virtual services and expands the electronic resources to ensure that the PMU community is able to access the resources and information that they needed. The LRC makes efforts to gain access to their digital and physical collections as well as to provide their services remotely, with the transformation of teaching from traditional style to distance learning. There are several virtual initiatives that LRC has taken to promote digital access to the library resources and to make LRC services more efficient while challenging to deliver access to information with library closure. The researchers also examine the changes that PMU library has made to library services throughout the year 2020.Item Development of Resource Sharing Services at Helsinki University Library(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-09-20) Kähö, Elina; Leppämäki, JuhaBackground: In 2019 the ILL services at Helsinki University Library were spread across many systems: web forms, a ticket management system, an in-house ILL software and Voyager. The systems were not communicating with each other. Information was copied manually between them. Patrons could not see interlibrary loans in the library system. Invoices were created manually. Helsinki University Library migrated from Voyager to Ex Libris Alma in 2020. Testing Alma resource sharing started the same year. The aim was to find out if we could replace the various ILL components with Alma. Initial results were promising, and we started a development project to implement Alma’s resource sharing functions in 2021. Implementation: We set up a resource sharing library in Alma that serves all our libraries on different campuses. Alma user records for libraries as well as records from in-house ILL system were converted into resource sharing partner records using Alma API. ILL request forms were replaced with two new forms. The Primo resource sharing form is used for borrowing requests. For lending requests, we created a form for libraries. The form uses Alma API to send lending requests directly to Alma. Bilingual resource sharing letters (Finnish and English) were configured for email communication in Alma. Alma Analytics is used for reporting and collecting statistics. We are working to create invoices automatically based on the reports from Alma analytics.Item Qatar National Library’s efforts in opening up Qatar’s research output - A step towards a global open access transformation(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-09-20) Alkhaja, Alwaleed K.What if libraries can have access to all content? To respond to the COVID emergency, in April 2020 a group of librarians under the aegis of IFLA created “Resource Sharing during COVID-19” (RSCVD): the first experiment in free digital resource sharing worldwide. RSCVD is based on the voluntary contribution of hundreds of librarians around the world, who worked with the tools available at that moment in order to share documents held in their libraries with the world academic community. After the success of this initiative in the face of the COVID emergency, the Erasmus Plus Programme, through the HERMES project, gives us the opportunity to design a new Resource Sharing software platform for the RSCVD international community. TALARIA software is being designed to support library communities in their resource sharing (RS) management. There is no doubt that with the advent of the U.S. occupation in 2003, and the accompanying sabotage, looting, and burning of many of the collections and holdings of Iraqi libraries, what is wanted is to obliterate the landmarks of human civilization carried by Iraq in its libraries and which are often the cost of preserving them are very harsh, but despite this, these institutions rise again.Item Evaluation of satisfaction: Why and how?(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Visas, KristaPresentation by Krista Visas [Pärnu Central Library, Estonia] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item Considerations to manage quality process in our libraries, and no give it up in the way(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Huaman Huriarte, RoxanaPresentation by Roxana Huaman [Britanico Library – Asociación Cultural Peruano Británica] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item A year on IG (Instagram): Reflections(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Sanchez, Patricia; Tovar, Mari CarmenPresentation by Patricia Sánchez and Mari Carmen Tovar [Sistema de Bibliotecas de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item The experience of the thematic guide service in the Library of the Escuela Nacional de Administracion Publica(2024-05-27) Bolivar Lobaton, EvaPresentation by Eva Bolívar [Biblioteca de la Escuela Nacional de Administración Pública, Perú] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item National library system: Library policy development(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Alejandro, AlexPresentation by Alex Alejandro [Sistema Nacional de Bibliotecas de la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item Marketing strategies used in the College of Librarians of Peru(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Colegio de Bibliotecologos del PeruPresentation by Colegio de Bibliotecologos del Peru at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item Benefits of developing and exploring library marketing plans in South Africa: A DUT experience(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Matumba, Muvhulawa RomeoPresentation by Muvhulawa Romeo Matumba, [Durban University of Technology, South Africa] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.Item Make every co-worker a star!(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-05-27) Feltreuter, AnyaPresentation by Anya Feltreuter [Linköping University Library, Sweden] at the IFLA Management and Marketing Section Midterm meeting in Lima, Peru on 6 March 2024.
