Brocade makes use of the Apache Lucene search engine to search its catalogue. CCT LIS operates 104 libraries which support a local population with an ever increasing literacy rate with growing information needs. The advent of the Internet and the emergence of new formats of items stocked in libraries have exposed a need for LMSes to restructure their online search results. IFLA initiated the development of the Functional Requirements for Bibliographic Records (FRBR) conceptual model. Its work, expression, manifestation and item level entities, together with its relationship framework equip LMSes to restructure their catalogues. For CCT LIS the retrospective manual FRBRization option would be too labour intensive and time consuming, while a retrospective programmatic FRBRization process could prove very costly. Also, CCT LIS has a unique relationship with the Western Cape Library and Archive Services (WCL&AS). The former is an independent municipal institution which cooperates with the latter Provincial institution with regard to catalogue records, which could have further implications for the FRBRization process. Brocade in its current configuration does allow for the implementation of the FRBR conceptual model for newly acquired works. By utilising an existing cataloguing option currently available on Brocade, cataloguing can be done on an expression level leading down to the manifestation and item levels. The degree of FRBRization of the CCT LIS catalogue is dependent on software vendor support and the relationship with WCL&AS from where a sizable number of catalogue records are imported programmatically.Los servicios de Bibliotecas e Información de Ciudad del Cabo (CCT LIS) trabajan actualmente con el Sistema de Gestión de Bibliotecas (SIGB) Brocade, que usa un software en la nube (basado en la Web) desarrollado por la Universidad de Antwerp, Bélgica, y que distribuye en Sudáfrica la Agencia de Tecnología e Información del Estado (SITA), con apoyo adicional de CiBLis (Sistema de información bibliotecaria CIPAL Bibliotheca). Brocade usa Apache Lucene como motor de búsqueda en su catálogo. CCT LIS opera en 104 bibliotecas que dan apoyo a la población local con una creciente tasa de alfabetización y con mayores necesidades informativas. La llegada de internet y la aparición de nuevos formatos de documentos en bibliotecas han puesto de relieve la necesidad de los SIGBs para reestructurar sus resultados de búsqueda online. IFLA comenzó el desarrollo del modelo conceptual de los Requisitos Funcionales para Registros Bibliográficos (FRBR). Sus entidades de obra, expresión, manifestación y ejemplar, junto con su marco de relaciones obligan a los SIGBs a reestructurar sus catálogos. Para los CCT LIS, la opción de la ferberización manual retrospectiva sería un trabajo intensivo y muy largo, mientras que un proceso de ferberización retrospectivo automático sería muy costoso. Además, CCT LIS tiene relación con los Servicios de Archivos y Bibliotecas de la Provincia Occidental del Cabo (WCL&AS). La primera es una institución municipal independiente que coopera con la segunda en lo relativo a registros del catálogo, lo que tendrá mayores implicaciones en la ferberización del catálogo. La configuración actual de Brocade permite la implementación de FRBR para las obras de nueva adquisición. Utilizando la opción de catalogación actualmente disponible en Brocade, la catalogación puede hacerse a nivel de la expresión bajando a las manifestaciones y ejemplares. El grado de ferberización del catálogo CCT LIS depende del soporte del proveedor del software y de la relación con WCL&AS desde donde se importan automáticamente un considerable número de registros del catálogo.La bibliothèque et les services d’information de la ville du Cap (City of Cape Town Library and Information Services, CCT LIS) exploitent actuellement le système de gestion de bibliothèque (SGB) Brocade, qui repose sur un logiciel web dans les nuages développé par l’Université d’Antwerp en Belgique, et qui est distribué en Afrique du Sud par la SITA (State Information Technology Agency) et le support de CiBLis (CIPAL Bibliotheca Library information system). Pour CCT LIS une FRBRisation rétrospective manuelle serait trop lourde et longue à réaliser, tandis qu’une FRBRisation rétrospective automatique pourrait s’avérer coûteuse. Par ailleurs, CCT LIS, une institution municipale indépendante, a une relation unique avec les Services Archives et Bibliothèque de Western Cape (Western Cape Library and Archive Services, WCL&AS), qui sont une institution régionale). Ces deux acteurs coopèrent autour des notices catalographiques, ce qui pourra avoir des implications pour le processus de FRBRisation. Brocade permet dans sa configuration actuelle l’implémentation du modèle FRBR pour les œuvres nouvellement acquises. En utilisant une option de catalogage actuellement disponible sur Brocade, il est possible de cataloguer au niveau expression et de descendre aux niveaux manifestations et item.
