The project addresses systemic barriers preventing "at-risk" students from envisioning higher education through a model of relational and creative immersion. Methodology: A curated university excursion dismantled "Ivory Tower" perceptions through three integrated pillars: 1 Artistic Expression: Utilizing an art collective to facilitate hands-on "making" as a tool for self-agency. 2 Purposeful Play: Gamifying information and digital literacy to reduce academic anxiety and build confidence. 3 Alternative Pathways: Facilitating transparent dialogues regarding non-linear routes to tertiary study, emphasizing access pathways and campus hospitality. Key Outcomes: Findings indicate a significant shift in student "sense of belonging." By positioning the library as the enduring bridge between school and university, the project established a continuous support network. Participants reported increased confidence in navigating academic spaces and a reframed understanding of information as a tool for personal empowerment. Conclusion: "The Connected Campus" demonstrates that when institutions embrace play and creativity, they create a "third space" where marginalized students can redefine their futures. This model serves as a scalable blueprint for fostering genuine educational equity.enghttps://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Social inclusionEqual accessCollaborationLibrary outreachGamificationInformation literacyThe Connected Campus: Building a Third Space for Educational EquityPostersRen StevensStephen HarrisRena MacLeod
