Abstract: | Sponsored by the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), National Forum on Information Literacy (NFIL) and the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), the Colloquium was hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina. It brought together forty information literacy and lifelong learning experts from all six major geographic regions of the world. They developed recommendations for UNESCO's Member States on how major economic and social challenges such as poverty, unemployment, and disease can be tackled using international literacy and lifelong learning. |
