The aim of the event was to bring together a broad spectrum of publishing programs, to exchange knowledge, and to foster networks and mentoring relationships among library publishers at all stages, also highlighting the important role that the Library Publishing Coalition plays in this regard. Speakers included an international array of publishers, library publishers, publishing experts, presenting honest practical guides for advancement in this field. Delegates were welcomed by Ann Okerson (on behalf of IFLA) and Philip Cohen (President, Library Association of Ireland).Item Connecting and Empowering Library Publishers: An International Knowledge Exchange(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2020-03) Buggle, Jane; O'Neill, Marie; IFLA Library Publishing Special Interest GroupThe 2020 mid-term meeting was held at Oslo Metropolitan University in Norway in March 2020, chaired by Lars Egeland. This event explored in greater depth themes discussed in Dublin whilst also introducing newer topics. Library publishing (including new-model university presses housed in libraries) is a growing activity in many countries around the world. The IFLA SIG aims to bring together experienced practitioners and would-be publishers to build communities of practice, to share information, and advance this exciting field of endeavor. New and emerging library publishers will gain insight into the experiences and practices of established presses, and all attendees will learn from new and innovative approaches. All the presentations and the ensuing discussions will advance the excellence and sustainability of library publishing ventures. The aim of the event was to bring together a broad spectrum of publishing programs, to exchange knowledge, present good practice, and to foster networks and mentoring relationships among library publishers at all stages, also highlighting the important role that the Library Publishing Coalition and the IFLA SIG play in this regard. The SIG meeting also invited participation by library schools and others engaged in efforts to educate the next generation of library publishers.Item IFLA Library Publishing Special Interest Group: Self-Study(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2024-06-19) Buggle, JaneItem Library Publishing Group: Connecting and Engaging a National Community of Practice(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-10-27) Quinn-Hegarty, Aoife; Buggle, JaneThe Library Association of Ireland (LAI) Library Publishing Group was established in 2019 by a group of librarians involved in library publishing and others who wished to learn more. The aims of the LAI Library Publishing Group are: • To raise awareness of the Library Publishing movement in Ireland • To disseminate information on the latest developments within the Library publishing sector nationally and internationally • To mentor new library publishers and to showcase library publishing initiatives and successes in Ireland • To forge links between open access and institutional publishing presses and libraries • To liaise with relevant agencies such as the Library Publishing Coalition, the IFLA Library Publishing Special Interest Group, PKP and other key organisations. • To promote and teach the Library Publishing Curriculum to Group members and across the library sector The LAI Library Publishing Group has held a number of webinars to share knowledge and practice. The Group has also developed strategic affiliations with the Library Publishing Coalition and the IFLA Library Publishing Special Interest Group. It contributed to the National Open Research Forum (NORF) National Open Research Landscape Report, and it recently endorsed the National Action Plan for Open Research. The Committee comprises representatives from twelve academic institutions.
