Le minacce alle raccolte sono perlopiù note, ma spesso i bibliotecari non proclamano a voce sufficientemente alta le conseguenze dell’ignorare i pericoli. I Principi dell’IFLA per la cura e il trattamento dei materiali di biblioteca si propongono quindi di incoraggiare i responsabili ad affrontare le conseguenze e, insieme con esperti scientifici e tecnici, a formulare direttive per il futuro del materiale presente nelle loro raccolte.
