Library outside Library – with new partners to new users
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-09-29) Dimitrijevic, Milena
The pandemic has affected the lifestyle of millions, especially those in big cities. Due to its vicinity to the Serbian capital and a geographical position, Silver Lake, a nearby tourist destination on the territory of Veliko Gradiste Municipality had a record number of tourists and temporary residents, who found working online in a smaller community and beautiful nature more acceptable during pandemic. The local library used those circumstances and created a library corner on the walkway along the main beach to increase the number of users, but also to use this attractive tourist destination to present its services to wider audience. Prior to that, the Library had made new partnerships with high school students, popular travel bloggers and famous people to promote the campaign on social networks and media. The library corner was open throughout the high season including weekends. At the same time, because it was situated on a more attractive location, it provided the service of the official Tourist Info Centre. Thus, several SDGs were achieved and the Library demonstrated readiness and aptitude to adjust and respond to the new challenges.
