    “Reading School”: recovering learning in the post-COVID

    "Reading School" is an action of the School Libraries Network, the National Reading Plan 2027 and the Directorate-General for Education that makes part of the 21|23 School+Plan (“Plano 21I23 Escola+”). This plan, which is the responsibility of the Portuguese Ministry of Education, was designed to support the recovery of learning that was compromised by the pandemic. The 21|23 School+ Plan is organised in 3 areas: Teaching and learning, Supporting educational communities and Knowing and assessing. The "Reading School" integrates the first area and provides schools with the means to support their students: a special budgetary allocation and the assignment of time credit for setting up a team responsible for the project (between 5 and 12 hours). The "Reading School" action, for which 716 schools have applied, and which will end in July 2023, aims to work on reading in a systematic and diversified way, under the supervision of the school library. When applying, schools selected between 3 and 6 of the following activities: Classroom guided reading; Personal reading project; Time to read and think!; Home lending of books; I always have a book with me!; Reading teams/volunteers;
