This issue of the IFLA Journal explores critical developments in global librarianship, with a focus on professional training, information access, and cultural preservation. Articles cover diverse topics such as leadership training for library and information professionals in the Arab world, challenges of managing hybrid libraries in the UK, and the role of non-professionals in Russian libraries. Several pieces address the shifting landscape of cataloguing, including the evolution of MARC formats and authority control. Contributions also examine the preservation of oral traditions in South Africa and accessibility for the visually impaired. Reports highlight international cooperation, including updates from IFLA’s sections and projects like FAIFE and ALP. Together, these contributions reflect the library community’s commitment to equitable information services, technological adaptation, and the safeguarding of cultural heritage. The issue emphasizes collaboration, professional development, and the need for libraries to evolve as dynamic, inclusive institutions in an increasingly digital world.
