The Section completed the following activities that were aligned with its Action Plan for the year: Annual Satellite Pre-conference hosted by the Library of Congress in Washington, DC USA; Capacity Building Workshop in Washington, DC; “Meeting the needs of parliamentary clients: a knowledge sharing session” at the WLIC in Columbus, Ohio; , The National Assembly of Zambia/Inter-Parliamentary Union Capacity Building Workshop: on building digital repositories using DSpace. The workshop took place 13-17 June 2016; the Guidelines for Parliamentary Research Services were distributed at regional meetings of parliamentary librarians; innovative use of technology in parliaments and libraries comments included in the 2016 World e-Parliament ReportItem Annual Report 2016-2017: Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2017-11) IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section Standing CommitteeThe IFLA Section on Library and Research Services for Parliaments (IFLAPARL) Annual Report cover the period September 2016 – August 2016. The purpose is to inform the Professional Committee, the Section’s Standing Committee, members of the Section and the profession around the world about achievements over the year. It is aligned with its Action Plan for the year. The Section completed the following activities: Capacity building workshop in Warsaw, August 2017; IFLAPARL satellite meeting in Warsaw hosted by the Senate of Poland and the Polish Sejm16-18 August 2017; the Section organized a session “Parliament and the People: Transparency, Openness, Engagement” at the 2017 WLIC in Wroclaw and had 3 joint sessions with 3 other sections; facilitated knowledge sharing and communication within the Section and in regional networks issue two editions of the Section Newsletter and an updated Section brochure, and a newly designed World Directory of Library and Research Services for Parliaments (WDLRSP).Item Annual Report 2017-2018: Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2018-11) Wise, Steve; IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section Standing CommitteeThe Annual Report records the Section's achievements and progress in relation to the Action Plan for the last year. These are the activities that were completed during the year: 1. Stage the Section’s annual IFLAPARL satellite meeting The 2018 IFLAPARL one-day pre-conference was held was held in Kuala Lumpur's Convention Centre on the 24th of August. The theme was 'Transforming parliamentary libraries and research services to meet changing clients’ needs' 2. The Section organised 2018 WLIC session "Transforming Library & Research Services for Parliamentary Impact." The Section also cooperated with other IFLA sections to arrange a popular knowledge café on how continuous learning can prepare information professionals for the future, as well as a session with government libraries on evidence-based policy making and supporting UN sustainable development goals as well as a presentation on the use of the Guidelines for Parliamentary Research Services. 3. Communication to members: The Section issued two issues of the newsletter translated by the Mexican Chamber of Deputies into Spanish. The Section reviewed its web pages updating content and fixing broken links. 4. The Section facilitated a discussion on best practice and standards for ethics in parliamentary libraries and research services and published related checklists on the Section webpageItem Annual Report 2018-2019: Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2019-12) Wise, Steve; IFLA Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section Standing CommitteeThe Library and Research Services for Parliaments Section (‘IFLAPARL’) Annual Report covers the period September 2018-August 2019. The purpose is to inform the Professional Committee, the Section’s Standing Committee, members of the Section and the profession around the world of work done over the year.
