Item Action plan 2017-2018: Big Data SIG Committee(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2017-09) IFLA Big Data SIG Committee; Klapwijk, WouterObjectives of Professional Unit 2017-18: 1. Contribute to the knowledgebase in IFLA that will enable librarians to assist researchers and themselves to use modern techniques and tools to analyse data and make new discoveries (Key Initiative 2.2, Activity 2.2.2: Promote the Hague Declaration on Text and Data Mining – with specific reference in the “Roadmap to Action” to create infrastructure and tools to analyse big data). 2. Help establish librarians’ competencies for data management, data governance, and data literacy (Key Initiative 1.1, Activity 1.1.2: Expand and promote a framework for media and information literacies – with specific reference to data literacy which is currently not included in the scope). 3.
