Action Plan 2021-2023: Middle East and North Africa Regional Division Committee
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-12-08) IFLA Middle East and North Africa Regional Division Committee
Focus areas of this action plan include getting libraries in the Middle East and North Africa region involved in SDG-related activities, promoting the SDG Book Club, and preparing materials around how to get involved in Voluntary National Reviews; looking at preservation issues (in particular the convergence of cataloguing standards in the preservation space and how to promote collections), copyright issues (in particular raising awareness and encouraging engagement around WIPO), internet governance issues (how associations can get involved), and promoting human rights (through building stronger links between library and human rights organisations); supporting partnerships with other stakeholders, in order to develop advocacy capacity through a dedicated course, and to increase awareness of the importance of preserving and providing access to heritage; building awareness of IFLA among associations and institutions in the MENA region, including by assessing reasons for low membership and reaching out more effectively to non-library entities; campaigning around engagement in the Map and working more broadly around library performance metrics.
