Green Library by bike – mobile, social, sustainable
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2023-11-14) Meinel, Corinna; Kropf, Katrin
Since summer 2022, the Chemnitz Public Library has used an e-cargo bike for outreach projects. The cargo bike represents an individual measure within the overall sustainability strategy of the public library, advancing the implementation of these goals. The bicycle offers new ways of directly fulfilling the library's mission, and more broadly for the people outside the library walls. Unlike a mobile library, the bike is small and manoeuvrable, thus the library can participate in the city's social events and find new places for its work, significantly expanding its portfolio of outreach activities. This poster will provide information about the goals of the bicycle and how it contributes to the SDGs.
