    The Dutch BoekStart approach

    The Dutch BookStart program is the start of the continuous reading line – starting young with reading via BookStart and carry on with reading via The Library in School (de Bibliotheek op school). The Dutch BookStart program is divided in three main parts: 1.) BookStart for babies is focused on parents of young children (0-4 years), it is carried out from every of the 1437 Dutch library organizations in The Netherlands. 2.) BookStart in childcare centers). Librarians are active in over 3.000 child care centers to support the employees with the reading activities and a proper collection of (digital) picture books 3.) The BookStart coach is a librarian (reading consultant) that is active in child healthcare centers to help especially language poor families with reading activities. The poster shows these three lines as part of the continuous reading line, with numbers that are reached in 2022.
