Item City of Boston Proclamation: IFLA DAY — August 20, 2001([s.n.], 2001-08-20) Menino, Thomas M.Boston PROCLAMATION: Whereas IFLA is the leading international body representing the interests of library and information services and their users; and Whereas IFLA is an independent, international, non-governmental, not-for-profit organization. Aims to promote high standards of provision and delivery of library and information services. Encourage widespread understanding of the value of good library & information services. Represent the interests of our members throughout the world; and Whereas IFLA also aims to promote international understanding, co-operation, discussion, research and development in all fields of library activity and information science, and to provide a body through which librarianship can be represented in matters of international interest; and Whereas The 67th IFLA Council and General Conference will be held in Boston from August 16-25, 2001. The IFLA Conference has not been to the United States for over fifteen years, and the city of Boston is most honored to host such an important and spectacular event; Therefore, NOW I, Thomas M Menino, Mayor of the City of Boston, do hereby proclaim Monday, August 20, 2001 to be: IFLA DAY in the City of Boston.
