New Take on Children's Collections: Engage and Connect with Students with Dyslexia
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-12-16) Morgan, Marina
It was observed that students with dyslexia often found the library space intimidating, leading to lacking a basic library experience and understanding the value of the library. As library professionals, we are responsive to the challenges that students with dyslexia are facing. To meet their unique needs, Roux Library and Hollis Hays Library at Florida Southern College piloted a project based on the IFLA Guidelines for Library Services to Persons with Dyslexia. By following these guidelines, our main goal was to connect with the students and improve their library experience, engage them with the newly designed collection, and inspire them to feel welcome and comfortable in the new library space.
