A playful approach of SDG education
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2023-10-23) Nazare, Daniel; Nazare, Ruxandra
The poster illustrates an educational program for children, teachers and librarians that use as instruments for SDG teaching two board games that were created especially for this purpose. The first one, named "CuiB" (Nest), was created in an international project and includes three boards with the global climate situation for years 2015, 2065, and 2165. Built around the idea of bird migration, the educational game board follows the way of birds north and back south, searching for food and building a nest. At the same time, the game gives to players the opportunity to learn and debate on important topics such as global warming, desertification, pollution, waste management, biodiversity etc. The second one, Go Goals!, is the Romanian version of the educational game about Sustainable Development Goals, designed by the United Nations Regional Information Center (UNRIC), in partnership with the artist Yacine Ait Kaci (YAK). In additon to the Romanian translation, our library printed the game pawns on own 3D printer, from biodegradable plastic. Based on the library mission and vision, our team cooperated in network, with libraries, schools and NGOs and got a real impact in her educational campaign. The positive feedback is the result of our playful approach.
