    The PUC Business Meeting took place on 18 March 2025 during the IFLA Advisory Committee on Standards Symposium in Athens (hybrid format). Discussions focused on maintaining and updating the UNIMARC formats and manuals, dissemination strategies, and ongoing harmonization projects with ISBDM and IFLA Namespaces. Progress in 2024 was reviewed, including proposals, manual versions, and user engagement. Strategic planning for the "Future of UNIMARC" project was initiated, aiming at a roadmap and position paper on the evolution of UNIMARC within entity-based cataloguing.

    Minutes of Meeting: Permanent UNIMARC Committee, 3-5 June 2024

    The 34th Annual Meeting of the Permanent UNIMARC Committee (PUC) was held online from 3–5 June and on 11 July 2024. Discussions included updates to the UNIMARC/A and UNIMARC/B manuals, harmonization with ISBDM, proposals for new fields and subfields, and the future of the UNIMARC format. Several proposals were approved, while others were postponed for future meetings. The planning of the upcoming UNIMARC Users Meeting was also addressed, and volunteers were invited to contribute to editorial and harmonization efforts.

    The following Guidelines show how the UNIMARC format can be used when creating records for music. They are applicable to sheet music (printed scores, parts, etc.), music manuscripts and sound recordings, both published and unpublished (the latter intended also for archival use), librettos or texts for music. They are not intended for audio-visual materials and music-related electronic resources, although the treatment of such materials may follow a similar model.

    The first version of the online edition of the UNIMARC Authorities Format Manual was published in 2023, replacing previous editions. It includes changes agreed upon by the UNIMARC Permanent Committee (PUC) from 2010 to 2023. This edition also includes corrections in the text and examples, a reorganisation of the appendices and a new manual structure (tables of subfields, occurrence, repeatability, history paragraphs). The new UNIMARC Authorities Format documentation is an online integrated resource intended to be a permanently complete documentation and usually updated once a year.
