Together for special libraries in Croatia
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2023-10-23) Heberling Dragičević, Sanja; Mokriš, Svjetlana; Šalamon-Cindori, Breza; Urem, Irena
According to the Croatian Standard for Special Libraries, published in 2021, a special library is an independent library or an institutional unit covering a specific scientific or artistic branch, field, or area. In Croatia, special libraries include libraries of research institutions, hospital and health institution libraries, museum libraries, gallery and archive libraries, religious community libraries, libraries of public and government authorities, corporate libraries, libraries of associations and societies and other libraries. Each of them has an essential role in safeguarding and preserving invaluable documentary heritage. The provisions of the Act on Libraries and Library Activities (NN 17/19, 98/19) and of the Ordinance on Central Library Activity and the Network of Central Libraries in the Republic of Croatia (NN 81/21) regulate the central library activity and the system of central university libraries in Croatia – the National and University Library in Zagreb, the University of Split Library, the University of Rijeka Library and the City and University Library Osijek. The aim of the poster is to present advisory and supervisory role of the central libraries in Croatia that work together for special libraries in order to contribute to their sustainable future
