    PUMC Digital transformation strategy of medical library resource construction

    Digital resources have become the same basic resource type as traditional printed resources. The library of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences/Peking Union Medical College Institute performs the function of the national medical library, which have both systematic and professional characteristics in the construction of resources. As a state-level modern medical library, it urgently transforms from the traditional resource construction mode, and puts forward corresponding transformation measures. The construction of medical terminology resources is one of the most important part. (1) Relying on China National Science and Technology Books and Literature Center, implement the strategic guarantee strategy of high-quality and high-coverage printed resources. (2) Establish SinoMed, a national service for biomedical metadata services, and provide retrieval and other services. (3) Building a medical terminology system: launching a medical terminology tool for national service. We hope to optimize the distribution of medical science and technology literature resources through a series of reform measures, expand digital resources and open resources, and build a literature resource guarantee system for medical science and technology innovation across the country and support multi-level application.

    PUMC Medical Library - Promotes Health and Well-Being by using AI and the Internet

    PUMC Medical Library has a hundred-year history. In the era of the booming development of AI and the Internet, PUMC Medical Library makes full use of AI technologies and the Internet platform to provide various information support for users. The library used many AI algorithms to construct the Chinese Medical Terminology System and Chinese Medical Thesaurus, which provide rich medical terminology services and the basis for the deep organization of Chinese scientific resources, knowledge reasoning, and semantic retrieval. Meanwhile, it provides convenient online tools for users who need to acquire medical information. Additionally, WeChat is the most used social media platform in China, public account has been widely used in information propaganda. The PUMC Medical Library operates an official public account on WeChat. Through this account, the PUMC Medical Library shares six major themes including training on how to use databases and remote library services, holding online lecture series, recommending good books, library offline activities notices, etc. The PUMC Medical Library strives to provide and spread medical knowledge, such as medical terminology and literature, improve the medical information literacy of librarians and readers, and devote to promoting the healthy development of people.
