Anonymous Classics: a list of uniform headings for European literatures

Abstract

This revised edition, prepared by the IFLA Working Group on Anonymous Classics, presents a standardized list of uniform headings for anonymous literary works in 28 European languages. It updates and expands the 1978 edition with new literatures, revised entries, and bibliographic references. Designed to support consistent international cataloguing, it focuses on medieval and early works of unknown or uncertain authorship, offering cross-references, language codes, and definitions to aid librarians and scholars in bibliographic control.
