Future National Bibliography of the Islamic Republic of Iran (NBI): the users' perspective

Abstract
Purpose: Investigation of the rate of users' satisfaction of current NBI and users' expectations of future NBI.
Design/Methodology/approach: The method of this research is survey methodology. The tool of data collection was questionnaire which was divided by 23 close and 3 open questions and 152 persons were chosen as population-based study.
Findings: The results of this study showed more than half of the users are satisfied with the comprehensiveness of NBI resources. The future services which are expected by users include providing a union catalogue, the possibility of book reservation via OPAC and keeping a history of the user’s search strategy. According to the user expectations in existence of the distinctions elements in similar records of NBI, NLAI should implement new user-centered standards such as FRBR. The high user request for presenting related subjects to users’ subject search suggest that NBI requires the implementation of FRSAD as well.
Originality/Value: No previous research in this field studied the expectations and viewpoints of individual users of NBI.
Цель: Изучение современного состояния и перспектив развития НБИ с точки зрения пользователей. Структура/методология/подход: метод данного исследования – социологический опрос. Данные собирались на основе анкетирования. Анкета содержала 23 закрытых и 3 открытых вопроса. Были опрошены 152 человека. Выводы: Результаты исследования показали, что более половины пользователей удовлетворены полнотой представления ресурсов в НБИ. В будущем пользователи хотят получить доступ к сводному каталогу, возможность бронирования книг через OPAC и сохранения результатов своего поиска. Чтобы соответствовать ожиданиям пользователей в части представления в схожих записях НБИ различных элементов описания, НБАИ должна внедрять новые, ориентированные на запросы пользователей, стандарты, такие как FRBR. Пользователи предъявляют высокие требования к проведению тематического поиска, поэтому необходимо внедрять в НБИ FRSAD. Оригинальность/ценность: Ранее не проводились исследования, изучающие мнение отдельных пользователей НБИ по данному вопросу.
Objetivo: Investigación del grado de satisfacción de los usuarios de la BNI (Bibliografía Nacional Iraní) en curso y sus expectativas sobre la futura BNI. Diseño/Metodología/tratamiento: El método para esta investigación es la realización de encuestas. La herramienta para la recolección de datos fue un cuestionario dividido en 23 preguntas cerradas y 3 abiertas, se seleccionaron 152 personas como base demográfica para el estudio. Resultados: Los resultados de este estudio muestran que más de la mitad de los usuarios están satisfechos con el contenido de los recursos de la BNI. En cuanto a los servicios futuros los usuarios esperan que se proporcione un catálogo colectivo, la posibilidad de reservar libros a través del OPAC y que conserve el historial de la estrategia de búsqueda del usuario. Según las expectativas del usuario debido a la existencia de diferencias formales en registros similares de la BNI, la BANI debería implementar nuevos estándares orientados hacia el usuario como FRBR. La alta demanda para que se den las materias relacionadas en la búsqueda temática de los usuarios muestra que la BNI precisa también la implementación de FRSAD. Originalidad/Valor: No hay investigaciones anteriores en este campo que hayan estudiado las expectativas y los puntos de vista de los propios usuarios de la BNI.
