Practical experiences of resource sharing activities in the Islamic Consultative Assembly Library (ICAL)

Abstract

Resource sharing is a concept which includes many cooperative activities between libraries and other information centers. Advent of IT and ICT’s have opened up new opportunities for greater cooperation. So digital interactions, collaborative approaches to digital repositories, providing Content Consortiums and other practical experiences for sharing resources are promising development in the recent years. Nowadays, the Islamic Consultative Assembly Library (ICAL) is participating in the Iranian Consortium of National Content (ICNC) which is trying to prepare an appropriate access to digital resources for all members in national and even international level. On the other hand, the Digital Parliamentary library of Iran, known as "RASAN", provides the users with the digital images of more than half of the ICAL manuscripts. The numbers of digital images are rapidly increasing. This paper introduces practical experiences of some important resource sharing activities in the Islamic Consultative Assembly Library (ICAL) by focusing on digital activities and the Iranian Consortium of National Content (ICNC).

El intercambio de recursos es un concepto que incluye muchas actividades cooperativas entre las bibliotecas y otros centros de información. La llegada de las TI y las TIC han generado nuevas oportunidades para lograr una mayor cooperación. Por lo tanto, en estos últimos años se han desarrollado las interacciones digitales, los abordajes colaborativos con respecto a repositorios digitales, los Consorcios de Contenidos y otras experiencias prácticas de intercambio de recursos. En la actualidad, la Biblioteca de la Asamblea Consultiva Islámica (ICAL, por sus siglas en inglés) forma parte del Consorcio Iraní de Contenidos Nacionales (ICNC, por sus siglas en inglés) el cual está preparando un acceso adecuado a los recursos digitales para todos los miembros a nivel nacional e internacional. Por otro lado, la biblioteca Parlamentaria Digital de Irán, conocida como “RASAN”, ofrece a sus usuarios imágenes digitales de más de la mitad de los manuscritos que contiene la ICAL. La cantidad de imágenes digitales aumenta rápidamente. Esta ponencia plantea experiencias prácticas de algunas actividades importantes de intercambio de recursos en la Biblioteca de la Asamblea Consultiva Islámica (ICAL) y hace hincapié en actividades digitales y el Consorcio Iraní de Contenidos Nacionales (ICNC).
