Abstract

This demo showcases the Augmented Reality and Interactive Collection (ARIC), an innovative initiative by the Sarawak State Library (Pustaka) to enhance access to its painting collections. By integrating augmented reality (AR) technology, ARIC transforms traditional exhibitions into interactive, immersive experiences. Users can scan artworks to access enriched content, including artists' narratives, background stories, and detailed provenance through a digital platform. This approach bridges physical and digital spaces, enabling 24/7 borderless access while preserving the authentic "voice" of local artists. The innovation has received a 5-star recognition and the Industrial Revolution 4.0 Award, highlighting its impact and excellence. ARIC offers a scalable model for libraries and galleries to enhance user engagement, support cultural preservation, and promote wider accessibility to visual arts collections.
