Abstract
The International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA) developed the IFLA Guidelines for Green Libraries to support libraries worldwide in advancing environmental, social, and economic sustainability. These guidelines recognise libraries as powerful community institutions that can lead by example, reduce their environmental footprint, and foster knowledge, inclusion, and resilience.
This Step-by-Step Implementation Manual builds on the principles outlined in the Guidelines by offering a practical, step-by-step pathway for action. It translates strategic sustainability concepts into achievable measures that libraries of all types and sizes — public, academic, school, national, and special — can adapt to their local context.
