Abstract
Open Innovation model is considered a new paradigm in the Innovation Management literature. The ideals model are reaffirmed by making sense of collaborative networks, strategic partnerships, absorptive capacity and knowledge retention. Organizations can and should take advantage of the ideas, knowledge and technologies available in the external environment. Given the challenges and diffusion in the business context it is investigated how libraries can use the open model to keep attractive in the offer of products and services, approaching the real and potential needs of their information users. It aims to think how libraries respond to the expectations of internal and external users. The analysis of empirical studies can identify existing situations, gaps for the futures libraries initiatives, regarding their efforts to approach the business environment, research, development and even engage with the academic world. It is characterized by being an exploratory and descriptive study, it is believed that this contribution could be a starting point towards the maturation of open innovation practices adapted to the reality of libraries. and to know the possibilities offered by the Open Innovation model and its scope leads to examples of innovative actions in libraries that can be recognized in the field of innovation.
