This paper explores family homelessness in the United States and looks at correlated literacy and school performance outcomes for children who experience homelessness. Recommendations and examples of best practices for providing library services for families who are homeless are included, as well as a case study of programs and practices offered by the Queens Library in New York City, New York. The paper also addresses gaps in the conversation around family homelessness, systems, and service interventions which may contribute to misunderstandings about the nature of homelessness.en
