Solar Panels as a Clean Source of Energy – Energy Efficiency of the National Library of Serbia
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2023-11-14) Stankovic, Beba
The National Library of Serbia has decided to strengthen its activities in the SDG fields. In December 2022, we installed solar panels on the roof of NPL to use clean energy to perform as many jobs as possible. The project was realized with the support and funds of the Ministry of Culture of Serbia. They recognized the significance and importance of this project. Especially since the National Library of Serbia is now the only cultural institution of national importance that uses this source of clean energy. Library activities show a variety of ways in which libraries have contributed to wider efforts to achieve the goals of the SDG – The UN 2030 Agenda is a framework of 17 SDGs spanning economic, environmental, and social development. One of them is SDG no 7: Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable, and modern energy for all. The Global Roadmap for Accelerated SDG 7 Action calls for action in five key areas: closing the energy access gap; rapidly transitioning to decarbonized energy systems; mobilizing adequate and predictable finance; leaving no one behind on the path to a net-zero future; and harnessing innovation, technology, and data. The character of the project is permanent.

Women’s Practices in the Time of the Pandemic
(International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), 2022-11-07) Stankovic, Beba; Butigan Vučaj, Tamara
The project titled Women’s Practices in the Time of the Pandemic is a trailblazer attempt by a Serbian CH institution to listen to, record, digitise and preserve the experiences of women during the pandemic, through storytelling, a web archive collection and a series of lectures. Stories of women from our surroundings have been collected and made available online, revealing the experiences of daughters, mothers, wives and grandmothers, and their dedication to their families, as well as their professions. In the pandemic, they have been all that and much more. Their fight has not been limited to the virus – they have also been fighting for health, survival and the well-being of their families. They have been innovative, creative and dedicated. We can all identify with the stories they have shared. The web archive collection is an effort to preserve an accurate account of women’s practices through the selection of content from different media – daily newspapers, weeklies, magazines, information portals and blogs – collected over six months – from October 2021 until March 2022. The links are in Serbian, but the topics they deal with cross the borders of the country, pointing to the fact that women across the globe have faced similar issues in this altered everyday life. Video lectures, which are available online, follow the idea of hearing the opinions of academic experts from various perspectives. They presented their research insights pointing to the fact that women have faced many extra burdens and difficulties on top of the existing ones related to their specific gender roles.
