Abstract: The seed library is a physical part of Karlsuhe City Library. On bookshelves seed bags are presented which contain seeds of vegetables, fruits and herbs. The focus is particularly on old and local varieties in order to preserve them. Hobby gardeners can borrow the seeds free of charge. After sowing, growing and harvesting they should bring back dried seeds to the library. A group of students makes sure that the seed circuit is working properly. This special library brings together people of all age generations who are committed to the preservation of plants and thus to a future worth living.
