Minutes of meeting: IFLA Regional Council, 29 June 2023

Abstract

Items discussed at the tenth Regional Council meeting include updates from the IFLA President and the IFLA Secretary General about WLIC 2024, followed by a discussion around this topic Also, updates from the Regional Council Chair, the Professional Council Chair, and the Regional Division Committee Chairs. Also, updates on the regional hubs WLIC 2023 and the Regional Council Session at WLIC 2023. Subsequently, there was a discussion about lessons learnt, with a focus on preparing the 2023-2025; evaluating the work of the Regional Council in 2021-2023; the draft Regional Council Welcome Guide 2023-2025. Regarding planning for the Committees' transition, the discussion continued including preliminary results from the IFLA Regional Advocacy Priorities Survey and an update on the transition planning. There was also an update about the SDG and Internet Governance work and towards a revision of the Internet Manifesto. Finally, there was an update about the elected members of the Regional Council 2023-2025 and a paper about Regional Diversity election results.
