Abstract: IFLA’s new guide takes a look at the Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, why it matters to libraries, and how to put it to use for library advocacy. This Convention is a commitment at the global level to culture, in recognition of its importance for creating a rich, varied world and driving sustainable development. Libraries and their staff have a key role in preserving and providing the widest possible access to culture. They can foster an environment where diverse cultural expressions are encouraged, valued, shared, and protected.  By understanding their role in achieving the goals of this Convention, library professionals can be better equipped to create meaningful programmes, make strategic connections, and help demonstrate their value.
