Anonymous classics: a list of uniform titles for Japanese works

Abstract

This document presents a standardized list of uniform titles for anonymous classical Japanese works, compiled for IFLA as part of its Anonymous Classics project. As this was an unprecedented project, special attention was paid to the selection criteria for the works to be included in the list. It is based on the titles listed in Appendix 4.1: List of Uniform Headings for Anonymous Classics and Sacred Texts, Japan and the Orient from the Nippon Cataloging Rules, 1987 Revised 3rd Edition (日本目録規則1987年版改訂3版), as well as the titles listed as classification names and notes in the Nippon Decimal Classification, 10th Edition (日本十進分類法新訂10版) . Additionally, a supplementary survey was conducted on Ainu and Ryukyuan anonymous classics.
