Libraries and Information Services in Latin America, The Caribbean and Brazil

Abstract

This presentation explores the current landscape of libraries and information services in Latin America, the Caribbean, and Brazil. It addresses the challenges posed by limited public policies and social inequalities, while also highlighting positive developments in countries such as Brazil, Argentina, and Colombia. Special focus is given to national infrastructure efforts in Brazil, particularly in science and technology information. The role of institutions actively engaged with IFLA and their contributions to international cooperation and professional development are also discussed.
