Newsletter: Government Libraries Section, July 2026

Abstract

This edition of the GOVLIB newsletter covers the first half of 2026, reporting on Standing Committee meetings held in January, March and May and the progress made across the Section's main workstreams. It includes updates on the revision of the IFLA Standard Guidelines for Libraries of Government Departments. The newsletter also reports on the co-option of Ahmed Saleh from Egypt, completing the Standing Committee's representation across all six IFLA world regions, and provides information on GOVLIB's participation in the Division B Knowledge Café at WLIC 2026 in Busan. Featured contributions from colleagues in China, India, Spain, Mexico and South Africa showcase a wide range of government library practice, covering topics such as decision-support services, digital transformation, institutional repositories and professional engagement.
