This poster explores how a newly established academic library in Vietnam can serve as a catalyst for transformation in the evolving global knowledge ecosystem. Built from scratch, VinUniversity Library redefines the role of academic libraries by integrating innovation, openness, and sustainability from the outset. Guided by a locally adapted SMART framework and the E.X.C.E.L. core values, the library has developed a user-centered and technology-enabled ecosystem. With over 70% of resources in digital formats and the adoption of demand-driven and evidence-based acquisition models, the library ensures equitable and sustainable access to knowledge. Importantly, the library contributes to the advancement of Open Science through institutional repositories, open educational resources, and support for transparent and collaborative research practices. These initiatives align closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Innovation), and SDG 17 (Partnerships). By leveraging emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and immersive learning environments, the library empowers users as both consumers and creators of knowledge. This case demonstrates how academic libraries in emerging contexts can leapfrog traditional development pathways and actively shape a more inclusive, open, and sustainable information future.
