Abstract
In response to global challenges, the IFLA MCULTP Section is revising the "Multicultural Communities: Guidelines for
Library Services," 3rd edition, 2009, to ensure they are inclusive, sustainable, and aligned with best practices. This
project brings together various IFLA sections, library partners, and stakeholders to update recommendations for serving
diverse communities, focusing on migration, digital transformation, and accessibility. The editorial team has
implemented an asynchronous workflow, using the BaseCamp card table tool to advance chapters through stages like
drafting, editing, and finalization without the need for scheduled meetings. This allows more contributors to participate
and utilize their expertise. Monthly meetings are held to review comments and suggested revisions. We have completed
updates to Chapters 1 and 2 and are revising Chapter 7 to include new case studies and best practices. Our approach
supports Agenda 2030 and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), ensuring that libraries lead in societal
progress. Through these guidelines, we empower libraries to enhance knowledge sharing, preserve cultural heritage,
and promote inclusive service models, building a future based on access, equity, and sustainability in library services
worldwide.
