From the Introduction: "When looking back on IFLA in the period mid 1971 - mid 1972 the attention should mainly be focused on progress. It is not history which rouses interest most, but the future, based partly on achievements of the past, partly on rapid and flexible adjustment to the changing demands of society to-day."
