| dc.description.abstract | As the scientific publication process becomes increasingly complex, researchers require targeted support. This project aims to establish a structured, sustainable and researcher-centred publication advisory service at the BfR Library, which has so far provided only occasional training, rather than systematic, strategic support tailored to researchers’ needs. Since mid-July, an initial online survey has been conducted to identify common topics and challenges across departments. Based on the results, we are developing tailored consulting and training programmes covering open access publishing, journal selection, copyright/licensing, and open data requirements. The service and its internal infrastructure (documentation, guidelines, communication channels) will be continuously evaluated and improved. In addition, the responsible staff member is completing continuing education in Scientific Publishing (expected completion: September 2026), ensuring the service is delivered to a high professional standard. The poster presents a structured approach to establish a publication advisory service in a research institute without previous formal support. It emphasises a sustainable, researcher-centred model, based on researchers' decision-making throughout the publication process. By aligning advisory services with research workflows, libraries can become strategic partners in scholarly publishing. This approach offers a framework for similar-sized institutions to remain relevant and effectively support their research communities in a changing academic environment. | |
