Minutes of meeting: IFLA Regional Council, 13 May 2026

Abstract

The eighth meeting of the Regional Council 2025-2027 was held virtually on 13 May 2026. The meeting opened with updates from the Regional Council Chair, the Secretary General, and the Professional Council Chair, covering recent external engagements, strategic priorities, governance developments, the upcoming General Assembly and WLIC, and ongoing collaboration between IFLA bodies. A central item was a thematic deep-dive on bringing IFLA into Library Schools. Updates were shared on delivery of the Regional Council Action Plan, structured around the three Regional Council Working Groups: leadership; communications and outreach; advocacy and partnerships. An update was shared on the regular RC meeting item about the cross-structural partnerships among the IFLA volunteer bodies. Discussions followed around the Regional Council Session at WLIC, and planning future meetings.
