IFLA Library Map of the World Data Definitions

Abstract

In collaboration with dedicated volunteers from hundreds of contributing organisations, IFLA develops and maintains the Library Map of the World website (librarymap.ifla.org). It is one of the most comprehensive sources of country-level library statistics in the world, covering all types of libraries. Data metrics include the number of libraries, libraries with Internet access, staff and volunteers, registered users and physical visits, physical and electronic loans. The Library Map of the World data definitions of metrics, library types, and data sources are adapted from the ISO 2789 “Information and documentation – International library statistics”.
