Building Trust Together: Libraries and ORCID in the Digital Era

Abstract

Safeguarding research integrity in the digital era demands proactive leadership. Academic libraries are transitioning from passive digital repositories into active architects of a trustworthy information ecosystem through strategic ORCID adoption. This poster highlights three exemplary integrations of ORCID within library infrastructures.

- German-speaking Library Networks (Integrated Authority File - GND): Implemented a bi-directional metadata flow to ensure authentic provenance tracking, linking GND ID and ORCID, and accurate author attribution. - Denmark Aalborg University Library (Pure and Open Journal System): Led a national community effort contributing 1.5 million validated research information "Trust Markers" to strengthen trustworthiness - Japan National Institute for Materials Science (Materials Data Repository): Pioneered employer-asserted affiliations to enhance repository access control.

Impact & Call to Action: Findings from the ORCID and SCImago Lab Special Report demonstrate that institutional investment in ORCID adoption strongly correlates with improved global university rankings through enhanced research visibility and maturity. Consequently, this poster issues a strategic call to action for Asian academic libraries to bridge the gap between high individual usage and institutional adoption in ORCID.
