| dc.description.abstract | Analysis and report on survey results "of what IFLA has achieved during the Medium-Term Programme 1981-1985...[it] is essentially the first attempt to provide a comprehensive review, for those who wish to be informed about the scope of IFLA's activities, of the wide range of topics discussed at meetings and of the diverse objectives of its professional units. Their relevance to all types of libraries throughout the world will be demonstrated, not only in relation to those countries with long traditions of library services firmly established, but also in developing countries where much pioneering work, even now, remains to be done. It will be a tour through the library world in its widest sense showing the library user and his needs, the supply of documents and other materials, with reflections also on such areas as library policy and management, in short, comprehending everything which contributes to the satisfaction of supply and demand for literature and for information.
