| dc.description.abstract | In many communities, barriers such as geography, limited connectivity, and institutional access continue to restrict access to research. The Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) Corner Program addresses these challenges by partnering with public, academic, and government libraries to provide free access to evidence-based policy research where it is needed most. Rather than viewing digital transformation as the sole pathway to access, the program demonstrates that library transformation is equally about advancing information equity through services designed around community needs. PIDS Corners complement digital initiatives such as the Institute’s Socioeconomic Research Portal for the Philippines (SERP-P), creating hybrid pathways that combine print and digital access to socioeconomic research. This approach ensures that users can engage with policy knowledge through formats that are meaningful and accessible within their local contexts. PIDS Corners support students, educators, researchers, policymakers, and community members by providing free access to policy resources for learning, teaching, research, and evidence-informed decision-making. By reducing structural barriers to information, the program repositions libraries as localized knowledge hubs that foster lifelong learning, civic dialogue, and more informed and participatory communities. | |
