dc.description.abstract"Resolution on Freedom of Expression, Censorship and Libraries" in English, French, Spanish, German and Russian versions. Adopted by the 55th IFLA Council and General Conference, Paris, France, 25 August 1989, this resolution expanded upon the earlier 1983 Munich Resolution (Resolution on Behalf of Librarians Who Are Victims of Violation of Human Rights) to achieve global coverage. The 1989 resolution explicitly aligns the international library community with Article 19 of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which protects the right to freedom of opinion, expression, and the free flow of information without interference. Submitted by: Association des Bibliothecaires Français (F. Danset); Association des Documentalistes et des Bibliothecaires Spècialises (Paul Dominique Pomart, Louis Giraud); Association des Diplómes de l'Ecole de Bibliothecaires - Documentalistes (Claudine Lehmann, Aline Debert); Association des Directeurs de Bibliothèques Universitaires (Geneviève Boisard); Association de l'Ecole Nationale Superieure de Bibliothecaires (A. Pailley - Katz, Jacques Dedeyan); American Library Association (Patricia Berger); Association of Research Libraries (Duane Webster) NOTE: this is the original version as circulated at the 1989 IFLA Council.
