Eqoquest With Taiping Public Library

Abstract

The EcoQuest with Taiping Public Library theme is strengthened through its implementation at Taiping Lake Gardens, a heritage landscape where history, culture, and biodiversity converge. This approach aligns with the conference’s aspiration to position the library as a catalyst for contextual learning—where knowledge is not only accessed but experienced within real-world environments.

Through inquiry-based activities conducted in this historic setting, EcoQuest connects environmental exploration with an understanding of Taiping’s community identity. Observing colonial-era heritage, engaging with local narratives, and appreciating the natural ecosystem demonstrate how history and environment collectively shape shared memory.

In line with IFLA’s framework, this learning experience expands the role of the library from a repository of information into an inclusive and transformative learning space.
