dc.description.abstract | Public libraries in Türkiye serve as vital cultural and educational hubs, offering free and equitable access to knowledge, information, and lifelong learning opportunities. Among their most impactful initiatives are reading clubs, which transform reading from an individual activity into a shared, interactive experience. These clubs foster a culture of reading, enhance social cohesion, and encourage dialogue across different segments of society. They are particularly effective in promoting literacy, empowering women, and engaging children and youth. This poster highlights the collaboration between public libraries and reading clubs as a model that strengthens reading culture nationwide. It examines how these partnerships operate, the diverse activities they organize—such as thematic discussions, author talks, and creative workshops—and their adaptability to local community needs. The presentation also explores the role of librarians as facilitators and cultural mediators, who create inclusive spaces for learning and self-expression. Drawing on examples from various regions of Türkiye, the poster demonstrates the positive impact of these collaborations on literacy rates, cultural participation, and personal development. The findings suggest that sustained support, capacity building, and innovative programming can further expand the reach and effectiveness of public library reading clubs, contributing to a stronger, more connected reading culture. | |
