| dc.description.abstract | Generative AI is transforming software development by enabling professionals without formal programming experience to create practical applications for their own work. This poster presents AI-LIPS, an AI-assisted application developed to automate MARC correction for audiobook cataloguing in an LC-based academic library. The project demonstrates how librarians can use generative AI to design and implement customized software that addresses repetitive cataloguing tasks without relying on dedicated software developers. AI-LIPS automatically detects and corrects common MARC errors, standardizes bibliographic records, and reduces the manual effort required for metadata quality control. By integrating AI into routine cataloguing workflows, the application improves efficiency, enhances metadata consistency, and allows librarians to focus on higher-value professional activities. Beyond the technical implementation, this project illustrates a broader shift in librarianship. In the era of generative AI, library staff are no longer limited to being users of software; they can become creators of digital tools that solve local challenges. The experience suggests that low-barrier AI development has the potential to accelerate innovation, improve library services, and empower librarians to lead digital transformation within their institutions. | |
