dc.description.abstract | This double issue of the IFLA Journal brings together global perspectives on the role of libraries in advancing human development, social equity, and access to knowledge. Authors examine the implications of electronic publishing, professional values in librarianship, and community-focused library initiatives. Special attention is given to inclusive services for disadvantaged groups and curriculum development in library education. The issue also features reflections on libraries as gateways to freedom in the next millennium, reaffirming their essential role in supporting democracy, education, and cultural exchange in an evolving information landscape. | |
