Article outlining IFLA as an organisation through an extensive interview with Secretary General, Margreet Wijnstroom. Excerpt: "Asked in 1983 if she had a job description, she quickly replied that one did not exist when she accepted the position and said, 'I would have had to make it myself, so I did not spend any time on that.' [...] Margreet Wijnstroom's administrative function is, as in any international secretariat, primarily to find new forms of co-operation. Her second vital function involves the promotion of IFLA's legitimacy as a global actor with global perspectives. [...] Margreet Wijnstroom concluded the interview by saying, 'Librarianship is international by nature; the foundation of librarianship is to make sure that information reaches people and to safeguard that right to information. I believe that librarianship without international contacts and international awareness would decline rapidly.'"
