Abstract

From the Introduction: "Thanks to an active, innovative Executive Board, Professional Board and Programme Management Committee and their excellent cooperation with IFLA Headquarters staff, IFLA progressed very well during the previous two years: it prepared itself for the '90s in view of IFLA's potential tasks in the first decade of the 21st century; at the same time it continued its ongoing activities in cooperation with other NGOs in the information sector, whenever possible. This combination of consolidation of IFLA 's present position on the one hand, and preparation of its future role in the library and information profession on the other, has resulted in some policy documents, the most important of which are IFLA's Long Term Policy and changes in the present IFLA structure."
